Definitely not normal for fuel cutoff Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Sat, 14 Oct 2006 19:20:32 In Reply to: Was this fuel cut-off?, Joe98, Sat, 14 Oct 2006 11:33:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've had fuel cutoff a few times, and it's more of a lurch than the explosion you experienced!
With fuel cutoff, no sparks or flames should come out of the tailipipe since, not surprisingly, the fuel is shut off. Also, the engine definitely shouldn't shut off.
Like you said, maybe BSR maps their ECU's differently than the standard Trionic program, but I've never heard of the engine shutting down like that. It does sound like maybe you lost a chunk of your cat if you had stuff flying out of the exhuast. I can't tell how that would shut the engine down, but who knows. That definitely would trigger the CEL too...
Good luck!
