I have been doing a bit of this with my 95CS LPT. I had an MBC laying around and so I tired it out, to my suprise I found that base boost was around 7-88psi on my car. I could set the MBC for 12psi and the car felt a lot quicker. Any higher than that and with a little creep I'd hit the fuel cut around 14-15psi. I saw the fuel economy go down and the car did feel quite a bit quicker so I felt like I'd got a nice increase.

I rigged up a boost gauge for testing. I could not find my normal boost gauge so I used a cheap tire gauge on a 1/2" bit of hose adapted down to the 11/32" or 4mm which I connected to the spare manifold port. I ran this under the rear of the hood and wired the boost gauge to the windshield wiper for testing. It works well, and one nice thing is that you can check the calibration of the gauge with a good tire gauge and a tire. The cheap dial gauge has a collar you spin off and reveal a standard 1/4 NPT fitting which fit well into a spare bit of hose I had around. The vacuum adapter to the small hose is a common part. Another advantage to this is that you can mount the boost gauge where you can see it and still see the road. Handy for testing. For long term operation, if you care what your boost is on a daily basis I would suggest a proper gauge inside the car.

Anyway I would suggest hooking up a gauge, checking your base boost and full boost and see where you are at.

I am interested in adding the BPC to my car, are there any links to that procedure? Out of curiosity I swapped in a CSE ECU and raised my boost to 15psi, I did not notice much if any more pull and I managed to get some pinging on a warm afternoon. While I expect I will go back to 12 psi and be happy, if I get bad gas or a very hot day it'd be nice to have knock protection on the boost.

Thanks,
-Joel.
