That is certainly within acceptable usage.
After a change to full synthetic (especially PAO based), it is not unusual for oil consumption to increase after a couple thousand miles. Often, this is caused by plugging (or partial plugging) of the oil filter due to the cleaning by the new oil. In some cases, the consumption will drop noticeably after the first drain.
Comments based on over 25 years of using and selling AMSOIL synthetics.
