All of the 1990 9000t models (both the hatchback and sedan) had Nivomat self-leveling shock absorbers. In later years, only the CDE had Nivomats. This means your model has softer springs and the shock made up the difference in spring capacity.
One solution would be to get the springs from a prior year hatchback model, and then use a standard replacement shock absorber. Do a search of the board on the subject of rear shock replacement to get an idea of some of the problems you will encounter.
