Just thought I would give thanks to those who did help with this project and didn't just say how impossible it is, because I got news. It's NOT impossible, and it's NOT as hard as you lead to believe.
Here's a breakdown.
'86 Saab 9000 Turbo which was wrecked
'87 Saab 9000 NA purchased for $200
Pulled Engine/Trans w/ harness from Turbo car
Pulled Engine/Trans w/ harness from NA car
Removed wiring harness from Turbo car, keeping as much as possible attached and marking the rest, it came out pretty easy and went back in about the same.
Removed wiring harness from NA car
Swapped in tank fuel filter/pump from Turbo to NA car
Put Turbo wiring harness back into NA car and reconnected with the new Turbo computers, also spent a bit of time to clean up the bad wires from aging
Swapped the turbo downpipe onto the NA car (they bolt up just under/behind the firewall)
Also took the time to clean the engine bay and repaint the front frame members, turbo downpipe, etc.
Dropped Engine/Trans back into NA car
Hooked all the gauges, lights, etc. back up
Spent $50 on oil, power steering, antifreeze, filter
Added Fluids
STARTED MY NEW '87 Turbo Conversion Car.
All thats left is to get all the doors/windows working since neither car had them all working and with the extra parts I can get them all back. OH also I swapped the interior (aside from carpet) because I think white and tan look much better than white and blue/grey.
So, again, THANK YOU to those that helped, and to those ranting how expensive and impossible it is, you might want to think again. It was actually MUCH easier than I had imagined, and I still don't understand how it was supposed to be so expensive?? Total cost including the new car was $250 and a box of shop towels, oh and both cars have a broken headlight I'll have to go scavange from U-Pull-It..
Granted this car does not have DIA or ABS or any of that CRUD which IMHO is worthless since it's much more expensive on failure and a pain to work with, Glad to stay PRE 88 thanks. :-)
