I'll have to chime in with my brother's NA to TWIN-TURBO experience on his 94 Mustang GT. A NA motor which he bolted tubos up to and has had no concequences that many point to (higher-compression motors vs. lower for factory turbo, etc.) The thing goes like a scalded dog and he runs around 18lbs of boost!
Sooo...If the bottom end of an in-line 4 cyl. is generally solid, with an improved head gasket, why couldn't you convert a 2.3L NA to turbo???
On the Mass-Airflow equipped cars, should not be an issue.
Anyone try this before they knock it?? Failure experiences??
Just my thoughts...
