One of the best arguments for getting a Saab is this online community. Especially if you do your own work, everyone here can make your experience a lot more enjoyable and save you lots of money.
As for the car, I'm on my third 9000. We've also had a 900, and we have a 9-5 wagon. The o-5 wagon did have a window slip down. The mechanism has a few plastic parts, the source of the problem, but this doesn't apply to the 9000. I have found the 9000 easy to work on and extremely reliable. Every one or two years, I replace something. That's acceptable to me. There are stainless exhausts, and lots of options for performance upgrades. My '91 is older than most cars on the road, but I don't think I'd trade it for anything.
Take your time looking, and as Ari said, insist on a good maintenance history before committing. Better to wait longer than to buy an abused car. One thing I always assume is that if there are "deferred maintenance" issues that I can identify, there are probably some that I can't, so move on. Best of luck.
