Curious about ignition switch....sort of long Posted by JEMSaab [Email] (#1053) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JEMSaab) on Sun, 28 Dec 2008 04:43:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted a while back about our '94 9k aero 5spd cutting out for a split second when headlights turned on. It would also occasionally reset the clock...sometimes both the clock reset and radio code needed to be entered. Everyone was very helpful in providing info on possibilities. The easiest thing to do first was to clean the batt. terminals and cable ends. After doing so it seemed much better. The clock hasn't reset in almost a month. Now it's back...(the clock part). I don't have the car cutting out when the lights or other electrical load is applied, but the clock is resetting pretty regularly. Last night I noticed it had reset after a trip to the store...so I set it to see if it would do it again. Got home, shut car off and watched as I did...noticed that it looked like it "shut off" before the key was actually in the off position. Like it cut out for a sec. while turning the key, then shut off like supposed to when in off position. After that I simply turned the key to get accessories and the clock had already reset in that little bit of time. The reason I'm curious about whether or not it could be the ignition switch is b/c of the blip when turning the key. Also, since we've owned the car, if you stall or shut the car off and then want to restart, you have to remove key, re-insert it and start again. If you don't it's like the key hits a wall and won't move past it. It may not be the ignition switch at all, that's why I'm posting. If anyone has any good info or ideas as to what it may be, I'm all ears (well eyes). In any case THANK YOU in advance! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
