There is one motor towards the front of the seat frame which controls the reclining mechanism for the seatback. The motor has two steel cables (one mounted to each end of the motor) that run back to the seatback reclining gear. Those two steel cables are housed in a plastic seat cable housing (which sells for about $50 new). What happens is that the plastic seat cable housings crack, the steel cable partially pops out of the housing and in turn it also pops out of the seatback recliner gear mechanism.
The solution to the problem is to either replace the seat cable housing, or to wrap a rubber hose, that you have slit lengthwise, around the cable housing and to then wrap some zip tie wraps around the rubber hose to properly encase the steel cable and get it to be reinserted into the seatback reclining mechanism. Have done this job on two of our 9000s and it is really not that difficult of a diy project.
Good luck!
