I agree with davidk and would like to add that each 9k is slightly different. My '95 Aero with full 3" exhaust and modded air box will consistently boost to the end of the orange/red striped section. Very rarely will it dip into the red. As davidk said the cooler weather helps out, along with all mechanical pieces of the puzzle being in order. When winter hits I can hit fuel cutoff VERY quickly simply b/c of the cold air available. Not really what I'm looking for, just noting that the temp difference has a lot to do with peak boost. My '94 Aero will consistently dip into the red about an 1/8" past the striped zone without really giving it to her. The other side of the coin is that the 94 has always had 93 octane fuel, has the air filter changed religously, has stock exhaust, and (what I think is key) the turbo was replaced with a factory unit by the PO about 40-50k ago. Like I said, all are slightly different. Yours sounds to be doing fine. If you're looking to be on top your game, change and make sure the gap on your plugs is correct, keep your air filter clean. Keep vacuum hoses sealed up tight, etc........
