Definitely steam on the inside of the windshield, but not a lot. My brother told of his heater core blowing with his wife driving and said the cabin was completely filled with steam and coolant splashed out onto her feet. I did not have the heater on at the moment, so that could account for me not getting more steam or coolant. Had not tried the heater since replacing the water pump.
Definitely not a failure of water pump o-rings or gasket. No trace of leakage there, and I lost a lot of coolant in a short period of time (big puddle from starting the engine for the 20 seconds to drive up onto the flatbed).
Definitely not a failure of heater hoses either. I kinda wish it was. It would make more sense and be easier to get at. This is a little mysterious. I guess I'm going to have to go after the core to see what happened to it.
