Good input, guys. Appreciate it. Hadn't thought about a lease. Unfortunately, a lease payment isn't really in the budget, since it runs for 2-3 years. I don't really like leases, because you're basically renting the car and have nothing but mileage and memories to show for it 2-3 years out. Anyway... If I were to lease something, I'm actually more inclined to put her in a Suzuki SX4 Crossover. AWD, hatch, lots of airbags, etc. Civics are nice but hatchless. Maybe a Fit? I DK.
I'm also thinking used Subaru, like an Outback wagon or Impreza Outback wagon, as she needs the practicality of a hatch. She's a environmental science grad and something with some basic off road capabilities would be useful. No rock hopping, but more than 2WD can handle.
Still thinking. Gotta do something! Will hit some local lots this weekend. I really don't need this rattling around in my head just now...
