Update on warped head: engine hard to turn over Posted by TODDMO [Email] (#493) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TODDMO) on Sat, 12 Jun 2010 17:28:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Finally got around to installing the rebuilt/straitened head on my 92 9000T. Machinist had to heat the head to get it flat. I had him install new valve stem seals and clean everything up. First problem: when I got the head back, he had installed the cams backward (intake for exhaust). Rather than take it back, I just switched the cams. After installing the head and timing chain, I turned the engine over by hand to verify timing. Everything lines up, but there seems to be a "hard/dragging" spot during rotation. My first thought was maybe the timing is off, but it isn't. Second thought: The head is flat, but the cams may be warped. Any ideas? How do I verify cams are within spec?
