The 6 and 9 bearing cap... Posted by TODDMO [Email] (#493) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TODDMO) on Sun, 13 Jun 2010 18:01:15 In Reply to: Re: plugs are out..., SWEDECAR [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 13 Jun 2010 14:58:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The bearing caps are in the correct locations except maybe 6 and 9. They look exactly the same to me. I switch them just to see if it made a difference -- nothing. The cam lobes are facing out away from the cylinder at #1 TDC, almost parallel to the valve cover edge. I'm going to take the head back off and turn the cams one at a time.
Is it possible that the cams turned freely at the shop when not attached to the timing chain? I have the head torqued to about 105 ft-lbs, which is what I measured after the final 90 degree turn. Could I have overtorqued the head? Could the block surface be warped? I've never seen that, but I thought I'd ask since I have all of you helping me. Thanks.
