Not saying it wouldn't work but I would think machining a head with overhead cams could cause problems that you wouldn't have to deal with on a pushrod engine. I guess it would depend on how warped it is and in what areas. When the warped head is bolted to the block it should be held flat. If you machine the head mating surface flat, the cam bores might get out of whack and they should probably be line bore to straighten them out. If you unbolt a head from the block and it "springs" a little, I guess as long as the cams spin freely in the sprung position, you'd be OK to cut the head. If they bind, I don't think you'd want to cut the head. ......or am I making too much of this? I'll probably clean the bock and the head, check for cracks and put it back together.
