I learned to be certain which way to turn the key to lock or unlock. When I used to screw up and quickly flip key the OTHER way, without waiting, I would blow fuses. Now, if I get goofy and turn to lock when I meant to unlock, I wait a few seconds before turning the key in the correct direction.
My rear door latchworks had massive friction from corrosion and hardened or washed-off lubricant. I did a big teardown and cleaning of the latches, detailed in some old posts on here by me, and they've stayed fine for 2-plus years I think it is.
