Well, this morning after thinking all this through, and the problem was getting worse, not better, I trusted my intuition and started thinking fuel. So, the only part I hadn't touched, at least this go around, was the AMM. It had been a while since I cleaned the AMM, so I got out my CRC air mass cleaner, removed the screens and gave it a thorough cleaning from both sides, then took electrical parts cleaner and did the contacts.
The car behaved a little erratic at first then settled down- smooth idle, and the AC rpm will pick right up.
There is a slight hunt of 100 rpm or so in the idle, so the AMM may not be spot on. But right now I'm really happy!
