My '96 9K with the hitch on it is out west, but I have the receiver bar here. It's the factory bar but with a 2" ball. The rise is 3.5" above the top surface of the receiver portion of the bar. As I recall, this puts the top of the ball about level with the top of the bumper, maybe a tad lower or higher. In this configuration the trailer is pretty much level.
FWIW, when I put a hitch on our 9-5 I had to try a couple of receiver bars before I found one that actually worked right. Some put the hitch too close to the bumper in addition to being too low/high. On the 9-5 the bar only has about 1.5 inches of rise but this actually works fine, even though it doesn't look as if it will. Trailer is level.
IMHO, the guys selling the hitch don't know much about the actual cars they go on, so it's better to get the receiver locally so you can get the fit you need.
Also, I looked to see what wiring harness was on the car but it was just a generic Draw-Tite. Sorry, no part number.... I need it, too.
