Just to experiment, I took one of the roughest with 142k on it , pried off the seal, flushed it with PB Blaster and WD40 while spinning it with a drill, then repacked it. It helped some, but it's still rough.
I remember reading somewhere that bushings are far better than ball bearings for applications like this because the balls deform from the point load. I'm curious about failure rate on these, because other than the roughness, I've haven't seen any exhibit play.
