A reservoir in the oil cooler line won't do any good because it is down stream from the pump. When the pressure comming out of the pump goes to zero because of starvation, the pressure at the oil cooler/reservoir will also drop. For the reservoir to do any good, it would need a check valve on the input side, and an air pocket (preferably with a bladder to keep it from foaming the oil) to store the hydrostatic pressure.
