Bob the ONLY benefit of the very costly electronic controls for an Accusump is for a street driven/daily driver. Most applications are in track type cars, here is how it works.
1) IF you want to pre-oil pressure the engine as you start it, turn the A/S valve to open then immediately turn starter on, drive as normal. The A/S unit will discharge as you start up until oil pressure hits normal, then it will refill itself. It will then do nothing until you experience enough G-forces to temp lower oil pressure, when again the air pressure in A/S container will make up for lost oil pressure, 1Q should buy you many seconds of protection, then as soon as oil pressure is normal it refills. So with slicks refills on straights, drains on hard right corners. The gauge on the unit, in my case mounted as Simon above suggests on oil/pressure sender point with gauge visible w/in cabin shows what is happening.
2) At shut down BEFORE turning key off, just close the valve retaining pressure for next start-up.
The ONLY advantage of the huge amount of extra cash for the electronic controls is when you start/shut down, the valve opens/closes for you. More to go wrong, much more costly, electronics are for daily drivers, gadget boys, too much money projects, not seen on serious track focused applications as serves no purpose to informed driver.
