The post I found on here that taught me mentioned the difference, more in angle covered than in bumps, of one of the locking tabs, but it's minor, and the bulb fitted in no problem. Well, not NO problem, they're kind of a pain to get in and under all three spring tabs, but that's true of either 9005 or 9006. Post by VtSnaab, as I recall, who actually had moved on to a kit of pulsed xenon bulbs that are plug and play that he bought online for $35 each, brighter still.
I think Radio Shack used to have tiny wire-cutting nippers like I used, by the way. May still sell them.
