No, it's pretty ancient Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Sun, 12 Feb 2012 15:02:38 In Reply to: Does your temp head unit have preamp outputs?, R. It's an old Kraco AM/FM/8-Track stereo deck that fits in a single DIN slot. Just two speaker outputs, probably puts out just a couple of watts per channel. I may try the resistor trick, or maybe just run some wires to the back of the car and put a couple of old-style car stereo box speakers on the floor.
I sent the factory head unit out for repair rather than buy something new since I wanted to keep the tape deck (I'm an old fart and have lots of tapes). Also I don't much care for the look of today's new car stereos.
The only stereo wiring diagram I've found so far is for a 1993 9000, hopefully aside from the amp powering all speakers the wiring has not changed too much.
