I've used the various muffler putties and tapes over the years to stop an annoying leak or pass inspection (at least in my state a glob of goo over a hole counts as no leak). I wouldn't count on it lasting more than a couple of months. The exhaust is likely rusty on the surface to begin with and since exhausts rust from the inside out the metal you attach it too is probably thin and on its last legs too. An exhaust has a lot of heat cycling, vibration, road junk and water contact, so it's a tough environment for a patch. Plus another spot probably isn't far behind perforating itself. You never know though, I've definitely seen exhausts rust out in just one spot while everything else looks good, and a well prepped surface patch can do the job for a pretty long time. Hopefully it will last you, and when you're back in the lower 48 you can enjoy the free shipping and how easy the 9k exhaust is to change.
