Being naturally curious (I took apart an alarm clock when I was quite young), I had to see what makes a BPC "tick" and now understand it. By separating two of the wires I did get the shorted side resistance up to about a 1 Ohm, but that is not good enough (other side is at 2.7 Ohms) and it doesn't pull or produce a click like it is supposed to. If it was the very last BPC unit on earth, perhaps I would try to rewind the defective coil, but there are better ways to use my time....
The unit that was clogged is now unclogged. Is there any recommended/preferred lubricant, or are they best run "dry"?
