Definite advantage to cross drilled rotors for track use. I'm deep into building a track car 9000 and I'm using 345mm Brembo 4 pots up front, you can find used saab fittmnets if you look and are patient, mine were just rebuilt with very good discs and rotors for $500 all in... Check Pistonheads site in Uk they come up for sale there as well as eBay.
Rear brakes are essential and are anything but 'along for the ride', I'm initially going with OEM calipers, Brembo iron solid discs, DS 2500 pads in the rear with new brake lines, s/steel hoses and a front / rear brake bias valve and likely a Lonacre compensation device to delay slightly the bite of the rears; believe me w/o proper rear brake set up and identical car getting the limit of traction from the rears will leave you standing after a few corners.
Gearboxes; great write up exists if you look in Knowledge section in UK, can't give link but you can find faeros great post with a little looking. I'm going intially with a 4.05 ratio gearbox with many strengthening and substituting much newer 9-3 parts, plus also an LSD and Tilton pump powering flow to a front mounted cooler.
