An update with good news! While I was able to drive the car around town in 25 mph zones the car threw a new code indicating a malfunctioning crank position sensor (CPS). I initially switched out the DI cassette before trying the new CPS and there was no change in running behavior. When I replaced the CPS and the issue was resolved. When I tested the resistance of the old CPS I found a ~200 ohm resistance compared to the ~580 ohm resistance of the new Beck Arnley unit. I expected very high resistance of the malfunctioning CPS. Not in this case. Thank you all for your insight.
