Just did this on my '96 Aero Posted by AdamB [Email] (#3) [Profile/Gallery] (more from AdamB) on Tue, 22 May 2012 04:24:34 In Reply to: frt/r suspension replacement, bama9000, Sat, 19 May 2012 15:25:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Had a bad front wheel bearing and also felt the steering was sloppy and unresponsive. Everything in the suspension was original as far as I know.
Replaced both wheel bearings (have had 2 SKF bearings stocked for a while), tie rod ends, ball joints, alu bushing caps for front control arm bushing (they were basically crumbling apart), Abbott poly rear bushing, Bilstein B4 (touring) shocks and strut bearings.
It drives amazing now. The Bilstein B4's seem to be the perfect compromise between comfort and sport. They are about 10% harder than the original Aero shocks. Over the years I've had both Konis and Bilstein B6 sports on a 9000. Konis where either too soft or too hard and B6s definitely too hard for normal roads.
