All depends on what you get. Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Tue, 12 Jun 2012 17:50:30 In Reply to: replacement speakers.. stay with components ??, ryand, Tue, 12 Jun 2012 10:42:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You can get awesome sounding coaxial speakers and crappy components or vice versa.
Personally I like components better because they fit nicely in the stock locations and I feel like they give a bit better depth to the sound. The factory audio system, which was designed for the acoustics of the car, used a component setup, so I prefer to keep it that way. You'll notice that the tweeters and mid range speakers, at least up front, are facing in certain directions...they were designed to fire that way. You'd lose that with coaxials.
I went with MB Quart component speakers both front and rear. I also have an Infinity Basslink in the trunk and a new Clarion headunit with USB/bluetooth, etc. It's a pretty great setup IMO. No matter what anyone tells you, the stock speakers are very tired at 14 years old, and were never that great to begin with compared to aftermarket stuff. The headunit is pretty much crap too...if you're going to ditch the speakers, might as well go for it all.
