I would guess IAC or fuel pump/filter. The flicking of the throttle doesn't tell me anything as it takes a second for the engine to catch up. Mine does the same thing.
I couldn't see any obvious shaking of the engine, but if it has lost power, ask your daughter to see what happens at WOT at highway speeds. That is when the engine will demand the most fuel and if you have a fuel-delivery problem, it should show up then.
And might I add, you're a good father trying to talk her through this and teach her a little about cars. I'd bet 90% of college-age girls couldn't get the hood open, much less identify the throttle.
