We should've had a muffler changing party! I did the center and rear muffler on the 97 Aero on Saturday. The bracket for the rear muffler snapped off the muffler body and the muffler bouncing on the sway bar stressed the welded area on the exit of the center muffler and it failed there. Based on what I saw, it wasn't long for this world anyway. After spending a couple of weekends trying to salvage different parts of these exhaust systems over the years, I generally give in and buy a center and rear at the same time. Mine came w/o nuts so I had to scramble around the garage digging through SAE faseteners looking for metric. I stole one off an alternator stud off my spare and took another one of the Subaru since it's down for a while. The two nuts came off the flex pipe flange with a little juice and the impact. I peeled the Starla label off the center muffler and it says "Fonos" underneath. I would expect that's who makes the center muffler itself? I also swapped out my two rotten front fenders with freshly painted repop fenders from the old scrapped 93 CSE. She's lookin pretty good again and it's not embarrassing to get into it.
