Yesterday I started up the car to move it in the driveway and it started and idled smooth like normal, I let it idle while I washed it with the hose as I haven't driven it in awhile, and it stalled.
Started it back up and it was running rough, sputtering, then stalled. Tried again and it wouldn't start until I pressed my foot on the gas then it ran, but rough. Swapped DI cassettes, and same condition. checked for fuel leaks, AMM connector, etc., and all looks good.
I managed to get it started, kept my foot on the gas, and put it back in it's spot. Gas is fairly new but I put some sea foam in the fuel since that fixed some bad gas once before and car started right up fine and so i shut it off. Didn't think the treatment would work that fast.
Today I started it up and it ran smooth like normal, I moved it to another spot, and let it idle, then again, it stalled. Repeat of all conditions, wouldn't start unless I put my food on the gas, could keep it running but rough if I kept pedal pressed, more or less, can get it to rev high but sometimes acts like it wants to stall, smooths out momentarily, and if i take my foot off the gas it just dies.
184,000 miles on a 93 CSE n/a. I think it's the original fuel pump.
I also smelled gas today after I was trying to keep it running, while I was in the car; might have been coming from under the car, as I had door open, but under the hood smelled fine. Trunk is packed full of boxes and couldn't smell anything in there. Driveway appeared dry, no leaks on tank bottom.
Car also backfired a few times after stalling...
Fuel pump? I don't think it's the filter clogged because it can run smooth as silk when the intermittent fail isn't there.
