Slow starter motor? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sun, 21 Jul 2013 10:39:37 In Reply to: Re: '95 9000 v6 delayed starting, Mr. Bubble, Fri, 19 Jul 2013 19:28:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 4-cylinder car started taking six to ten seconds of cranking vs. about two seconds for most of the time I have owned it. I thought that it had something to do with a new fuel pump and check valve, but after a few weeks of this the started died completely. Replaced the starter and it's back to starting in two seconds - starter motor runs much quicker than the old one, which may have slowed down in an unnoticeable way over the years. My guess is that when the fuel pump died, longer attempts at starting the car pushed the starter motor over the edge.
