Ugh - ScanTech ignition switch. Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Mon, 19 Aug 2013 07:13:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just wanted to vent that I bought a ScanTech ignition switch last August for my 9k, and installed it in October. There was nothing wrong with the old one, I just figured that at 207k miles it was a good idea. I drove the car daily from October until March, and then only once every few weeks until July. Tried to start it the past weekend, and it wouldn't crank, just gave me some sad-sounding buzzing relays. I measured voltage at the yellow starter wire while trying to crank and got nothing. I never expected the new switch to be dead, but just to be safe, I swapped my old one in...problem solved.
Moral of the story: buy an OEM ignition switch.
