If you find rust in the inner rear fenders where the shocks pass through, either walk away from the car or be prepared to spend approximately $800 sorting this out - and very few shops want to touch this type of job.
Another rust prone area is at the bottom of the rear fenders, behind the wheel opening and just above the plastic trim. Repair consists of patching the area with metal and repainting the lower portion of the fender if caught early enough, or the entire fender up to the roof if not. $$$
Front fenders can rust behind the "rub strip" at the wheel opening, but replacements are bolt on.
