Not sure why you couldn't patch with something like stainless steel brake line, which can certainly take the pressure of the fuel system (brake system pressure is much higher than fuel system). The stainless steel central portions of the fuel lines on my 1970 Volvo 1800E (injected) are now 44 years old, I replaced the rubber ends with FI fuel hose and FI (discreet screws vs. worm drive) clamps.
