I've installed a poly mount made by Professional Parts Sweden on a '96 9000 CS automatic fpt. This goes against the general rule that poly is okay for 5 speeds but causes too much vibration in automatics.
I had no problem with vibration at idle and low engine speeds before installing the mount, and no problem after. My wife says it vibrates less, but the only change I've noticed is smoother and faster shifting.
One caveat: about 5 years ago I snipped the orange wire to ECU pin 14. Because my ECU receives no signal from pin 14 it manages the engine as if the transmission is manual. If the ECU received a signal at pin 14, then it would open the idle air control valve slightly wider to compensate for the increase in load caused by the automatic. My car's idle has been smoother and steadier ever since I snipped that wire.
I see no reason why a poly transmission mount should be avoided on an automatic that idles smoothly. Also, there is no need to modify the poly by drilling additional holes in it.
