As you might understand, most advice are based on how a stock engine is set up and the known problems that can crop up.
So we kind of can guess that the car body is a 1995 (think that was the only year the V6 was offered in US) but we don't know the year of the engine and fuel injection.
With someone swapping in a 4 cyl engine instead of the V6 opens up a whole can of worms since we don't know how it was done and how competent the person was that did the job.
The two very simple answers you have gotten from your indy and someone else kind of indicates that they either don't know or they don't want to touch this snake nest of complications because it might be hours on end of fault tracing trying to find what the engine installer did wrong.
Since it seems to idle correctly sometimes would make me suspect loose wires for ground, sensor input or power supply somewhere in the fuel system but to find the culprit could be a nightmare.
