opinions on rust on prospective purchase Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Tue, 26 Sep 2023 07:32:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm looking at a late model 9000 Aero, which has what looks to me like pretty severe rust between the frame and the rear bumper. This is allegedly the only thing preventing it being issued a safety cert, and as such is being sold as-is. I'm wondering what you guys think.
How bad is it? Is it going to be a challenge to find a place willing to do the work? I don't think your run of the mill auto shop does structural welding.
Does it hint at more rust problems elsewhere? The owner says the car has been garaged for the last 14 years during the summer months, and not even driven during the winter.
I'm more than a little nervous about buying a car as-is and then finding out there's a laundry list of fixes required.
