Old CV joint is off the axle, and I have a ProParts CV joint on the way, hopefully it will arrive in the 2 days that I paid extra for. I hate using ProParts stuff but $36 vs. about $200 for a genuine SAAB version (which may actually be the same part at this point) helped make this decision.
SAAB isn't the only Swedish manufacturer that has used multiple incompatible parts on the same model/year. On my former Volvo 740 Turbo, they used brake calipers from three different manufacturers and the rear brake piston diameter of those varied by model!
