This may not work with your budget, but for 205-50 Z series tires to mount on 16" x 6.5" rims, you might want to consider the Yokohama A520. I had a set of Toyo Proxes T1s on my '92 9000T which I really loved, but when replacement time beckoned at the end of the summer, I was quoted $155/each for replacement. Got a set of Yokohamas for $110/each mounted, and I love them. They're a shade noisier than the Toyos, but they grip beautifully in wet or dry. Unfortunately, unlike the Toyos they don't have the sort of tread pattern that would inspire confidence in even mild winter conditions, so they're going to come off the car somewhere in December.
No experience with the Bridgestones, so I can't make a comparison there. THe Yokohamas don't seem to follow grooves in the pavement as badly as the Toyos did, and I feel very confident pushing them hard in the corners.
