Yes, my system is 3" from the turbo all the way back. Well,
that's not completely accurate: the JT downpipe is really 2 1/4"
where it mates up to the turbo. Anything bigger would not work.
After the first bend radius it diffuses out to 3". The system is
not hard to fit and does not rattle or backfire. Exhaust systems
that rattle, do so because they weren't installed properly. Also,
even though my muffler is a 'straight-thru' design (you can visually
look through it) it is not loud. I have a Magnaflow, and who ever
designed this thing, knew what he/she was doing. If you change
to a 3" downpipe and cat', I'm certain you'll feel a difference in the
performance. It's a simple matter to put a reducer after the cat'.
Then, run a 2 1/4" pipe back to your smaller (stock?) exhaust.
This means you'll eliminate the resonator and will have to have
the muffler shop fabricate/bend the pipe that goes over the rear
axle and connects to your muffler. My system is tied together
with stainless steel band clamps rather than with bolts and
flanges. They're a bit more expensive, but should last longer
and will be easier to work on if the need arises. I would recommend
3" all the way back - if it's done properly, you'll love it.
