My '92 9000T kept going into limp mode, usually about 300 miles from home, and the problem ultimately turned out to be the ETS ECU under the driver's seat. An ETS trouble code kept coming back and it pointed to a fault in the ECU. I got a used one, and $479 later I haven't been in limp mode for months.....
I hope your problem is cheaper to solve than mine was!
