Look, if the guy drove it reasonably and there's evidence of regular maintenance (fluid changes, etc.) and it really does only have 70 K miles on it, and none of the major problem areas have been a problem then ... what the hell was all that money spent on? I mean, really, how can you spend 10 grand on maintenance and repairs without having done anything major?! Feel free to e-mail me with details; I am really curious about this.
I cannot say that you won't have any problems with the car, and I will not be defensive about Saabs. In my opinion, some of their problem areas are ludicrous, but if you learn what to watch out for, and if you take proper protective measures (as in, extra maintenance where called for), the cars serve very well. Yes, I can in all honesty reassure you that the facts as presented are completely, rather spectacularly atypical. Again, how the hell do you spend ten grand on incidentals?! The car must have been pretty well cared for if the DI and none of the other typical problems have come up. You have to decide if a Saab 9000 is right for you. Were it me and were the car in as good a condition as claimed, I would buy it if the price were right. And if it doesn't have an auto trans. The auto trans is one thing I will not have anything to do with.
