1993 cs 2.3L non-turbo. When engine is fully warm, the idle will stumble to around 400 rpms when the ac compressor engages. Bounces up to around 1,000 and then settles around 900. I just noticed this for the first time today, but it's my wife's car and I don't drive it that often.
However, last weekend I replaced the starter motor, and I had to remove the intake manifold to get at it. I am wondering if there could be an air leak somewhere related to removing and reinstalling the intake manifold. In particular, there is a rubber o-ring between the throttle housing and the intake mainfold that I did not replace. Haynes recommends replacing it. When I squeeze on the rubber belows by the throttle intake (with the car running), I think I hear air escaping, though it could be air inside the intake manifold that I am hearing.
I have seen earlier posts relating to something called the AIC/IAC valve which appears to be cause similar symptoms. Where is that valve on this car. Will a malfunction in that valve cause these symptoms when the car is warm.
