I have a 9000 turbo CD 1991. The mechanics (including 2 Saab dealerships) have been unable to repair my A/C... It is a year-long story,and "AeroGuy" was very helpful earlier in the year on this message board, for which I was sincerely grateful. Because of his description of wiring, we found that an A/C mechanic had switched the connection of two cables that looked identical except for the color of the wires. My Saab mechanic (independent not dealer) does not have a wiring diagram for this car though he has put together some of it.
Here is where we are now in this problem. The system is filled... all parts have been replaced, but the A/C doesn't go on. The heater and fans work fine, and the A/C works if electrical power is put to it manually. What we need to know is: When you turn the A/C on, how much voltage is supposed to come from terminal #31, wire (yellow/white) #407 coming out of the heater control unit through the termoswitch to the fuel injection ECU? We have 4.5 volts. Is that correct? The Automatic Climate Control is
ACC 2.
The mechanic thinks that either the heater control unit is not sending the signal properly or it is not getting sent properly from the Fuel Injection ECU? All advice will be appreciated... but he really needs to know if 4.5 volts is correct... and if not, what might be wrong?
I have spent several thousands of dollars trying to get the A/C working. Please help me with any advice.
by the way, there is no "high speed fan" relay in my car... the outlet for it in the box at the front of the engine area is simply empty. Do I need that relay for the A/C to work... what is it for? Thanks again.
