If failing due to friction material wear, it'll start slipping long before it lets go. You should have a few hundred miles at least.
From what I've seen, 900s and 9000s in the UK seem to need clutch at ~ 120-140k. I suspect this would be quite different in the US, where much more long-distance driving is done.
The only catastrophic failure is when the slave cylinder completely lets go. This is usually heralded by some leaking.
Keep us posted - I'd be ineterested to hear how long it lasts.
