Oops, you're right. Anyway, I had three sets of 55-series tires (different models) on my '91 and never had a clearance problem with any of them.

This struck me as odd also, but was what one Tire Rack tech told me, explaining that although 215 was the limit on 9K's by their book, a 225 might fit. At least one person on this board has reported that 225-50-16 (or 55) fit on his car.
