The Quasimotors description though seems to have a different way to compress the tensioner than the Haynes or Saab manual. It says use a breaker bar from above (though the open hood I assume), whereas Haynes and Saab say to pull on the upper run of the belt. Haynes says to pull down, while Saab says to apply a "hard pull upwards". Are all these methods equally recommendable, or is the Quasimotors method better?
Another thing that isn't clear is which method, if any, will allow the belt to be removed and installed by only one person. In the Quasi method, I assume that pulling on a breaker bar from above occupies two hands, leaving no hand free to slip the belt off or onto the idler pulley, or to affix the fabricated tool, or to remove the tool and ensure that the belt is properly seated on the pulleys as the tensioner expands.
Can the tensioner be compressed with only one hand pulling on a breaker bar from within the wheel opening (not from above), leaving the other hand free to do what needs to be done while the tensioner is compressed?
The alternative strap method [below] is a one-person method, right?
