Seems that by welding parts in where there isn't an problem could increase your problem later. Maybe not, but with the heat of welding you will inevitably remove paint on the opposite side of the weld. if you can't get to that area very well you will increase the chances of rusting up...and then it will never stop. If you are sure to be able to address all areas affected then ignore this.
